MORE ABOUT ECOCIDE
ECOCIDE – Voices from Paradise tells the story of a small island community affected by an Ecocide. This film is just a microcosm of a much bigger ECOCIDE narrative.
The concept of making Ecocide an international crime has been around for decades. From the 1970s onwards there has been growing support to make Ecocide the fifth International Crime against peace to stand alongside the crime of Genocide by amending the Rome Statute. It is part of an emerging body of Earth Law.
To read more about the initiative to get Ecocide recognised as the 5th Crime Against Peace in the International Criminal Court by 2020 please go to What is ecocide?
Once an amendment to include Ecocide within the Rome Statute has been agreed, a 5-year transition period is proposed whereby corporations are given help to become drivers for change, creating solutions for a green economy, and helping them thrive economically under the new legal and moral framework.
In the meantime there are a couple of petitions that need signing!
